Ohio State Quilt

So here it is, my husband's Ohio State quilt.  He has waited patiently hoping I was going to make something, but has no clue it's coming now.  I waited to find the right pattern and I'm really happy with how this turned out.  The pattern is Gray Matters by Zen Chic, it's a layer cake pattern but I just adjusted accordingly.  I didn't put much thought into the layout but of course, after the fact I feel like I should have.  Just some inspiration for you!

I should also mention that I pieced it, my mom quilted it and grandma did the binding.  They were Santa's helpers this year!  Now Santa has to get cracking on a couple of rag quilts.

Modern Asterisk Quilt

Yes, we did it, too!  The Modern Asterisk Quilt was just too irresistible, we had to have it hanging in our shop.  Here it is, fresh from the quilter!

Our quilter, who we trust with all of our quilts, chose wavy lines to finish off this trendy quilt.  Here's a close up, you can see the lines are spaced kind of randomly.  This is a fun one and is really stunning in person.  If you live close, stop in a take a peek!

Paper piecing might seem scary, but these instructions are easy to follow and fun, too!

Mini Charm Garland & a Giveaway!

We shopped and shopped for cute garland to hang in the store but couldn't find a thing.  We were forced to improvise and so Mini Charm Garland was born.  

It takes 1 pack to do a 5 foot string, so it could get pretty expensive but you don't have to make them as full or do as many as we did.  To get started you'll need 120 inches of thread folded in 1/2 and knotted.  Stack 2 pieces wrong sides together and start stringing!  We went diagonal through the center, ran the needle through 4 times and bunched it up a bit.  With the double layer of thread and fabric, nothing moves that you don't want to. 

It's cute, different and the possibilities are endless!  We have ours hanging from ceiling, but this would be a super cute touch on your Christmas tree.  It has a country look due to the prints, I think it would be great out of the one of the modern collections or even an everyday collection and not necessarily Christmas.  Make it your own!
