Ohio State Quilt

So here it is, my husband's Ohio State quilt.  He has waited patiently hoping I was going to make something, but has no clue it's coming now.  I waited to find the right pattern and I'm really happy with how this turned out.  The pattern is Gray Matters by Zen Chic, it's a layer cake pattern but I just adjusted accordingly.  I didn't put much thought into the layout but of course, after the fact I feel like I should have.  Just some inspiration for you!

I should also mention that I pieced it, my mom quilted it and grandma did the binding.  They were Santa's helpers this year!  Now Santa has to get cracking on a couple of rag quilts.
Wish me luck and Merry Christmas!

Modern Asterisk Quilt

Yes, we did it, too!  The Modern Asterisk Quilt was just too irresistible, we had to have it hanging in our shop.  Here it is, fresh from the quilter!

Our quilter, who we trust with all of our quilts, chose wavy lines to finish off this trendy quilt.  Here's a close up, you can see the lines are spaced kind of randomly.  This is a fun one and is really stunning in person.  If you live close, stop in a take a peek!

Paper piecing might seem scary, but these instructions are easy to follow and fun, too!
Main Street Market designs did a great job.  The pattern, fabric or kits are available here.

Tomorrow I'm going to sneak and show my Ohio State Quilt that I made for my husband since I think the very last thing he would look at before Christmas is a fabric blog.

Have a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year!

Mini Charm Garland & a Giveaway!

We shopped and shopped for cute garland to hang in the store but couldn't find a thing.  We were forced to improvise and so Mini Charm Garland was born.

It takes 1 pack to do a 5 foot string, so it could get pretty expensive but you don't have to make them as full or do as many as we did.  To get started you'll need 120 inches of thread folded in 1/2 and knotted.  Stack 2 pieces wrong sides together and start stringing!  We went diagonal through the center, ran the needle through 4 times and bunched it up a bit.  With the double layer of thread and fabric, nothing moves that you don't want to.

It's cute, different and the possibilities are endless!  We have ours hanging from ceiling, but this would be a super cute touch on your Christmas tree.  It has a country look due to the prints, I think it would be great out of the one of the modern collections or even an everyday collection and not necessarily Christmas.  Make it your own!

Comment for a chance to win 4 of the Winter Elegance Mini Charms.
I'll do the drawing Thursday December 12th using random.org.  Good luck!

And the Winner is......Lisa Marie from Kentucky.  Congratulations Lisa Marie!

Super Cute Baby Quilt

Hope your holiday season is off to a great start!

We've got lots of great samples in the store right now, I just have to find time to hop on here and show you all of them.  What better place to start than with a super cute baby quilt!?!

The pattern is Country Fair Kid by Gigi's Thimble, it's meant to remind you of blue ribbons with a great monogrammed badge.  We have b for baby since there aren't any little ones around right now, but that's the beauty of this quilt, you can make it special just for your little one!

The fabric is Little Things Organic by Arrin Turnmire for Moda.  Cute and Organic?  Can it be?  Plus, the embellishments and quilting really make this quilt a winner!  The ruffle is sweet and the style will work for a boy or girl.  If you have a baby on the way or need a quilt for a baby shower, give this one a try!  Pick your fave fabric and get started today!  Finished size 44" x 54".

Next I'll show you a pretty cute idea for garland using mini charms!
Happy Sewing!
